What hardware do I need? ▼
Any device with a modern web browser! A Raspberry Pi with a monitor, a smart TV, a tablet, or even a laptop. LiveDepartures is fully browser-based — no special software or hardware required.
How do voice announcements work? ▼
We use Piper TTS, an offline AI text-to-speech engine with a natural British English voice. Announcements are generated server-side and streamed to your board. They include chime tones before each announcement, similar to real transport networks.
Which bus stops are supported? ▼
We support every bus stop in England that is registered with the Bus Open Data Service (BODS). That's over 300,000 stops. For live GPS tracking, we use SIRI-VM data feeds which cover most operators.
Can I use this for a real bus station? ▼
Absolutely! LiveDepartures is already being used in real-world deployments. The Pro license removes ads and adds live GPS, making it suitable for professional use. Contact our support team for enterprise deployments.
How do I manage my board remotely? ▼
Through the Admin Portal. Once your board connects, it shows up in your dashboard. From there you can change the stop, push custom announcements, switch themes, and monitor board health — all without physically touching the device.
